Rotary Club of Montego Bay's EarlyAct Clubs featured in The Rotarian magazine!

In only their first year of being, The EarlyAct Clubs of Montego Bay, working with the Rotaractors of Montego Bay and the Rotary Club of Montego Bay, in October of last year raised over JA$200,000 with their Coin Collection Drive. The funds were raised for the Norwood Basic School in Norwood, Montego Bay.

The Rotarian Magazine recognised this as a great achievement for the first project of the EarlyAct Clubs of Montego Bay and featured this success in its April 2010 issue of World Round Up.

Congratulations again to the EarlyActors and Rotaractors on this fundraiser!

Sunrise Inducts New Rotarians

"When a tree stops growing- it is ready to die...A Rotary Club is like that: It is moving ahead only when it's growing. When the growing ends , the knife and fork clubs begins." - Charles G. Tennent

If we want to see another century of Rotary, we must make rotary attractive to people. To get them involved in Rotary. We must concentrate on activities that capture their attention so that they are willing to make a commitment. It is not the responsibility of people to come to our clubs. It is ours to invite them.

Please join the Rotary Club of Montego Bay Sunrise in welcoming it's newest Rotarians Michelle Meikle (Auto Rentals) and Christopher Myles (IT Management). Congrats to these two Rotarians and also to the Sunrise club as they keep the flag of Rotary flying high.

AG Govind and Pres-elect Winsome attach the new Pins

The Induction ceremony and presentation of the two newest Sunrise Club members was done at a special meeting which included AG Govind Chulani, DGSR Haresh Ramchandani, President-Elect Rotary Club Montego Bay East Winsome Stewart along with the numerous Rotaractors visiting from their Conference.

Learning about Rotary and who we are...Sunrise

Thought we should share with our fellow Clubs some interesting videos about Rotary. Our club watched at our meeting today and for most of the members the videos were both insightful and welcoming to the heart.

The videos give special insight about Rotary the Brand , our objectives and efforts and also a special video that features Bill Gates announcing a $255 million grant to Rotary to eradicate polio.

Hopefully you find them informative click each Title below to play the Videos.

River tubing at Chukka Caribbean -GSE Team experiences other side of Jamaica

Jamaica is known for possessing great Rotarians who are always willing to go beyond the call of "service above self". However Jamaica is also know for an amazing tourism package with beautiful natural landscapes, amazing rivers, pristine beaches and warm welcoming people. So no doubt when the GSE team from Virginia visited the North Coast of the Island we had to let them experience our renowned service.
With a combined effort from the Rotary clubs of Montego Bay Sunrise, Falmouth and Ocho Rios the team visited the award winning Chukka Caribbean Adventures. Their visit took them to Chukka's White River Valley location in St. Mary where they did the Chukka River Tubing Safari excursion.

Between the screams and exhilaration of the tour down river the GSE team got a chance to learn more about Jamaica from their private tour guide.

Special thanks to Rotarian Christopher Myles (Montego Bay Sunrise) for facilitating the tour with Chukka  and AG Govind Chulani for coordinating with the multiple clubs to get the day organized.

Rotary Club Lucea launches First EarlyAct Club at St. Simon Primary School, Hanover

EarlyAct Club President Jovaine gives his address

The first EarlyAct Club in Hanover, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lucea, was launched today, at the St. Simon Primary School.  Several Rotarians as well as parents and teachers were in attendance.    EarlyAct Chair PADG Eric formally launched the Club after he and ADG Govind had addressed the children on the goals, benefits and responsibilities associated with membership in the Rotary Family.

We heard two excellent musical items from the students.  President Angela of the Lucea Club thanked all those who made possible the establishment of an EarlyAct Club at the school, incuding the Principal, Mrs. Forde.

Montego Bay Sunrise hosts GSE Virginia team

The clouds opened and it rained cats and dogs but the Rotary club of Montego Bay Sunrise was adamant that the Virginia GSE team would not be disappointed.
Thanks to Rotarian Mubarek Said (Public Relations Chair) the GSE team experienced the St. James' flavor from a business, cultural and cuisine perspective. With visits to the National Housing Trust operations and the Greenwood Great House the almost ruined day turned out to be a good mix of learning and fellowship.
